Biography
Sid Ahmed Agoumi, whose real name is Sid Ahmed Méziane, is an Algerian actor born on October 5, 1940, in Bologhine, Algiers. Of Kabyle origin, he began his career in the 1960s, excelling equally in theater, television, and cinema. He has appeared in over 50 films, including Z by Costa-Gavras.
Beyond acting, he served as the director of the House of Culture and Theater in Tizi Ouzou, as well as the Algerian National Theater (TNA). He also managed the theaters of Annaba and Constantine between 1974 and 1975.
Since the late 1990s, he has been living in France, where he continues his career in theater and film. He has lent his voice to notable Algerian figures such as Jean Sénac, Mouloud Feraoun, Rachid Mimouni, Benamar Mediene, and Kateb Yacine (Nedjma). More recently, he performed in Quebec in Le Collier d’Hélène by Carole Fréchette and La Chute by Biljana Srbljanović, portraying Slobodan Milošević.
He also received a Best Actor award for his role in Les Diseurs de vérité by Karim Traïdia, which was showcased at the 21st Francophonies in Limousin.
