Biography

Yasmine Ammari was born on June 17, 1985, in Oran, Algeria, into a family deeply rooted in the arts. Her father, Bouzid Ammari, is a renowned composer and singer, and her uncle, Abdelkader Alloula, was a prominent Algerian playwright. Yasmine made her first television appearance at the age of six, performing the patriotic song “Koulouna Djazairine” (“We Are All Algerians”) alongside her father during a concert promoting peace in Algeria .

 

In 2001, at the age of 16, she participated in the French talent show “Graines de Star”, securing second place and gaining early recognition for her talent .

Musical Career

Yasmine’s musical style blends traditional Algerian Rai with contemporary pop and jazz influences. Her 2014 album “Lyoum” received critical acclaim, earning her the Best Album of the Year award at the Algerian Music Awards. The album’s standout track, “Venez Danser le Rai”, became a significant hit, showcasing her ability to modernize traditional sounds .

In 2016, she released the album “Baba”, further establishing her presence in the Algerian music scene. Her collaborations include the 2021 single “Ktab Laghram” with rapper Didine Canon 16, which garnered over 9 million views on YouTube .

Demonstrating her versatility, Yasmine took on the role of producer and director for her 2022 music video “Khabarni”, marking her debut behind the camera .

Acting Career

Yasmine transitioned into acting with notable success. From 2015 to 2017, and again in 2021, she portrayed Sultana Razane in the popular Algerian television series “Sultan Achour 10”, a role that earned her the Best Algerian Actress award in 2017 .

“Wlad Lhal” (2019): Portrayed the sister of Merzek, Zino, and Yahia.

International Recognition

Yasmine gained international attention in 2018 by participating in the French edition of “The Voice”. Her rendition of Amina Annabi’s “C’est le dernier qui a parlé qui a raison” impressed all four judges, leading her to join Florent Pagny’s team. She advanced to the semi-finals, earning praise for her powerful voice and stage presence .

Following her success on “The Voice,” Yasmine focused on expanding her career in France, releasing the single “Ta Maîtresse”, a pop track with urban influences that addresses themes of female empowerment .

Yasmine is a devoted mother to her son, Racym, born in 2009. She resides in the Miramar neighborhood of Oran, Algeria, and remains deeply connected to her cultural roots .
