Wlad El Halal is an Algerian drama series that first aired during Ramadan 2019 on “Echorouk TV” and “Echorouk Plus.” It is considered one of the most successful Algerian drama productions in recent years. The story is set in the Derb neighborhood of Oran, following the journey of two brothers, “Merzak” and “Zino,” who grew up in an orphanage and embark on a quest to find their real family. Throughout their journey, the series sheds light on complex social issues such as poverty, crime, drug trafficking, and corruption, while highlighting values of solidarity and brotherhood in working-class neighborhoods.
Written by Rafika Boujdi, with dramatic adaptation by Abdelkader Djeriou, and directed by Tunisian director Nasreddine Sehili.
